Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly gaining popularity, accessibility, and applicability. Development and deployment of AI systems lead to automated decision making using various algorithms and models. While AI applications have proven to be useful, decision rules and outputs of AI systems can have a significant impact on people’s lives, such as access to opportunities, resources, and services. The goal of this webinar is to introduce and publicize the American Statistical Association’s (ASA) Statement on Ethical AI Principles for Statistical Practitioners to a wide audience who might find the statement useful. This statement underscores the necessity for responsible AI implementation, emphasizing trustworthiness as the primary objective of any ethical framework. The framework is built upon three core principles: Accountability, Transparency, and Fairness. By incorporating these principles, statistical practitioners can uphold ethical standards and maintain public confidence in AI systems, ultimately contributing to the responsible advancement of AI in society. Leading experts will describe their experiences and challenging AI situations connecting to these principles in this webinar. The statement serves as a guide for statistical practitioners to navigate the complexities of AI, aligning their work with evolving ethical, regulatory, and legal frameworks while prioritizing human values and well-being.
